Nicki Vaseghi on Ethnic Skin, Advanced Lasers, and Her Work at Lévy Aesthetics Near Seattle

Q: How did you first get into aesthetics?
NV: It came down to a choice between nursing and aesthetics. Nursing was the practical path, but aesthetics was where clinical and creative meet. I chose the one I couldn't stop thinking about.
Q: You've been doing this for more than two decades. Are we actually getting closer to slowing or reversing how skin ages, or just better at managing it?
NV: Both. We can't stop time, and anyone who promises that is just trying to sell something. But we can rebuild collagen, correct pigment, and resurface skin with a fraction of the downtime it took in the past. It's less about reversing age, more about keeping skin healthy and even far longer.
Q: Is there one recent treatment that's genuinely changed results for your patients?
NV: there’s not one particular treatment… it’s having the flexibility and various lasers at my fingertips to completely customize every single treatment.
Q: So, is it usually a combination of treatments rather than just one?
NV: Often, yes. There's no one-size-fits-all, but modern devices give us a great toolkit for different concerns. For example, I'll pair BBL for tone with CO2 for texture, and together they do more than either could alone
Q: You specialize in ethnic skin. How do the needs and the right treatments differ across skin tones and ethnicities?
NV: It's really two questions. On one side, different skin has different needs. Deeper tones tend to show uneven pigment first, with wrinkles coming later. On the other, the protocol changes, especially with lasers. The energy targets melanin, so on darker skin the wrong settings can cause pigmentation instead of clearing it. I adjust wavelength, energy, and aftercare to treat safely.
Q: You've worked in a lot of practices over the years, and now you're at Lévy Aesthetics. What makes it different?
NV: Levy Aesthetics is led by a board-certified dermatologist, Dr Levy. You can feel that in the day-to-day. I can consult with Dr. Levy on complex skin, which means patients get real medical depth, not guesswork. That backing also lets me work with advanced lasers and treat cases I'd have to turn away elsewhere.
Q: When a new patient sits down with you, how do you start?
NV: I listen. Before I look at anyone's skin, I ask what they want to improve and how they want to feel. Most people arrive with a fix in mind, but the real goal sits underneath it. Once I understand that, the plan writes itself.
Q: You've spent your whole career in the greater Seattle area. What is it about Bellevue that's kept you here?
NV: I’ve stayed in the greater Bellevue area because that’s where my career really began. I started at Gene Juarez at Bellevue Galleria, and from the very beginning I built deep, lasting relationships with my clients. Over time, those relationships became the heart of my work. I never had the desire to leave, because I wasn’t just building a career, I was growing alongside the same families for decades. Now, 25 years later, I’ve had the privilege of seeing multiple generations come through my door, which is incredibly meaningful.

Q: You're known for a bold personal style. Do you see a connection between how you dress and how you approach aesthetics?
NV: Absolutely. Style and skin are both about expressing who you are, not hiding it. The best result is the one that feels like you and never looks forced. Balance is everything, in fashion and in aesthetics.
Four Things About Nicki Vaseghi
1. Your favorite thing about Bellevue?
My favorite thing about Bellevue has been the relationships and the people that I have met. Some of my clients have become my chosen family, and some of my best friends.
2. Favorite local spot in Seattle for coffee or a meal with family?
Although I love Bellevue, I’m a true Seattlelite and live in Queen Anne. My favorite restaurant In Seattle is How To Cook A Wolf. I love nothing more than the bar at Carmine’s for an after-work cocktail.
3. Your favorite treatment to perform?
My favorite treatment to perform is anything that is completely tailored to my client’s needs. I’m not the standard one device- sell packages of the same treatment master aesthetician. I’m a big fan of multi-modality treatments!
4. Your favorite treatment to receive?
Well, that’s a tricky one. Honestly, all of the above. The most important thing for me is staying consistent with treatments on a quarterly basis to maintain collagen and keep my skin vibrant and healthy. I love combining V-Beam and BBL to keep my complexion bright and glowing. And I can’t go without Botox, it helps maintain a lifted, refreshed look around the eyes, which is one of my favorite things to treat. For me, it’s really about consistency and layering the right treatments over time to support long-term skin quality.
